About Us Jane started out in Tioga County, at Apalachin, New York. The third of 5 children born to William Paul and Dixie M. Johnson, she attended the Central Apalachin School, a one room schoolhouse, and then Owego Free Academy until 10th grade. She then moved to Endicott, New York with her family where she graduated from Union Endicott High School. Jane moved back to Owego in 1988 with her husband Robert Taylor. She loved to cook and people to cook for, so turning the lovely georgian home, into the Pumpelly House Bed and Breakfast was the realization of a dream. Her success was imminent, as she entertained guests and added event planning and catering to her business. Hosting everything from political fundraisers to little girls' tea parties, her reputation grew as an outstanding cook, event planner, and innkeeper. Overnight guests to the Pumpelly House,
were always delighted with the service, the ambiance of the home and the
restful atmosphere of their rooms. In 1997, she became aware of the scheduled demolition of another grand old home and approached the owner to see if instead of tearing it down, if he would sell it to her instead. Again visions of a beautiful setting where guest could stay, dine, and relax, was her motivation. The Glenmary Inn is the living dream of a woman who saw a building ready for demolition, and brought it new life. With two bed and breakfasts to run,
she began to train cooks, waiters, waitresses, housekeepers and innkeepers.
Under her tutelage many have flourished. Her contribution to this community
has been great over the course of the years through her many donations
of time and her homes to the benefit of all.
